Activities

All State Choir - Mr. Drees & Ms. Wankum: Students audition for a position in this group.

Band - Mr. Paulson:  Opportunities include Marching Band, All State Musical Festival, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Honor Bands, Solo Contests and Large Group Contests.

Big Dodger - Ms. Coronado:  Dodger yearbook is a year-long class which produces an annual history of the school, its students, and its activities through photography and words.  Students must apply and be selected.

Cheerleading - Mrs. Williams:  Cheerleaders promote school spirit and cheer for sports, including post-season tournament competition.

Choir -  Mr. Drees & Ms. Wankum:  Opportunities include Honor Choirs, Rackapella, Large Group Festival, Solo/Ensemble, Dorian Choir Festival and the school musical.

Color Guard - Mrs. Orozco:  Color Guard is a visual representation of music in a performance.  Golor Guard members perform with the marching band using flags and dance moves.  There is also a Winter Guard.

Dodger Dance Team - Ms. Eastwood:  Consists of a 16 member team that performs at various home sporting events.

Dodger Men Mr. Drees:  Male students may audition for this graded class.  The group performs four concerts per year.

Dodger Senate - Mr. Haugland: Dodger Senate is composed of 32 elected student body representatives who plan Homecoming, Prom and TWIRP, as well as perform community service projects.

Drama - Mrs. Krug:  The drama program involves a fall and spring production in the Niceswanger Theater with auditions open to all students.

FCCLA - Mrs. Schreiber:  FCCLA is an organization that helps students make a difference in their families, careers and communities by addressing important personal, work and societal issues.

Jazz Ensemble - Mr. SteigMr. Paulson :  Jazz Ensemble is a non-auditioned group of students who explore the basics of jazz music and perform at the Perspectives in Jazz Concert.  Members must be enrolled in band.

Jazz Lab -  Mr. Steig & Mr. Paulson: Jazz Lab has an audition process and consists of mostly upperclassmen. The Lab lets students demonstrate their creativity and personality through jazz music and improvisations. The group performs several times throughout the year. Members must be enrolled in band.

Little Dodger - Mr. McBride: Little Dodger is the school newspaper. It is a year-long class with prerequisites and an application process.

National Honor Society - Mr. Takatsuka:  This is for selected juniors and seniors with a grade point average above 3.5 and who excel in scholarship, character, service and leadership.

Orchestra - Mr. Robison:  Orchestra is primarily a string ensemble that includes instruments from the violin and viola families and gives students the chance to explore different syles of music as well as perform music in a professional setting.

Speech - Mrs. Krug:  Involves ten large group events and 14 individual areas.  Auditions are open to all FDSH students.

Vox Femina -  Ms. WankumMr. Drees:  Is an advanced ensemble open by audition to female students.  The group performs in four concerts per year and is a graded class.


 

Clubs

Boys Water Polo - Dr. Hayes: Relationship building, student engagement and increased physical activity are three of the main focuses of the Dodger Dunkers. 

Chess Club - Mr. Champagne: Chess Club is intended for students of all abilities. Students meet in room 223 from 3:30 - 4:30 where people are encouraged to play matches or small games to build their skills. 

DECA - Mrs. Jaeschke:  DECA is an organization in which a program of leadership and personal development is designed specifically for students enrolled in marketing, management and entrepreneurship education.

FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Jeremy Munden:  FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America and focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.

Gardening Club - Ms. Lyman: Promotes the development of friendships by helping students learn how to effectively grow vegetables, flowers and other plants. 

Gay Straight Alliance - Ms. Mathews:  The GSA was founded to promote gender, religious and social justice tolerance and helps make FDSH a place where people can "come as they are."

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) - Ms. Rasch: Specifically designed for students who are interested in the healthcare field in order to develop confidence, leadership, teamwork and community service. Members will do fundraisers, participate in competitions and have opportunities for scholarships. 

Junior Civitan - Ms.Hughes:  Junior Civitan enables those with mental and physical handicaps to serve the community through a variety of service projects. 

Link Crew: Ms. Traver & Ms. Gamello: Upperclassmen students serve as mentors who assist freshmen in their transition to high school. Link Leaders also deliver Mentors in Violence Prevention curriculum and other activities throughout the entire school year. 

Readers Anonymous Book Club - Ms. Powell :  Each month the club selects a book which members read individually, and then they gather to share dinner while discussing the book.

SkillsUSA - Mr. Birkey: SkillsUSA is a national organization serving students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.

Spirit Club - Mrs. Springer:  Spirit Club includes the Senior High cheerleaders and other students who promote and raise "Dodger Spirit" throughout the school district.

Teens Against Human Trafficking - Ms. Whitehead: Helps raise awareness about human trafficking and educates teens about the dangers of this important issue. 

World Language Club - TBD: Food, fun and cultural activities are celebrated and shared through this club.

Young Democrats - Ms. Whitehead: Helps students learn about  politics and new skills that will be valuable for anyone interested in public service and/or political sciences.
