First Grade Music Overview

In the first grade children build on the concept of opposites/contrasts through melodic direction, dynamics, tempo, and mood. They begin to be able to group characteristics, such as a woodblock as a wood instrument and a triangle as a metal instrument. They can also discriminate between phrases or patterns that are the same and different.
