District Blog: Another Great Year Is in the Books
by Dr. Doug Van Zyl, Superintendent
Where does the time go? It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of another school year. This was definitely a year where as a district we had a lot going on. While it was not a typical year, it was another successful year. My thanks to everyone who helped and supported the students and staff of the district.
The beginning of the year started out on a high note with the implementation of the TLC grant and our instructional coaches, but it was then meet with the disappointing news about Duncombe Elementary. Our Dodger community rallied around our students, staff and school to make what could have been a difficult situation into a very positive and rewarding experience.
Our students and staff continued to stretch themselves and their learning in the classroom. We implemented many new and innovative ideas and activities. Our students and staff were supported by our instructional coaches and there were numerous positive and promising opportunities for improved learning. Not only did our students do well in the classroom, but they excelled out of the classroom as well. This year saw multiple state championships for both teams and individuals. Our students continued to grow and excel in the fine arts, from another excellent musical to the individual competitions and awards they received.
My thanks again to the staff, students, parents and community members for all the help and support you gave this school year. Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to another great year with our students when they return on August 24th!
