Dodger Academy Accepting Registrations for 17-18 Year

August 17, 2017

August 17, 2017, Fort Dodge, IA-  Registration is currently taking place for Dodger Academy. The program is open to students from all Fort Dodge Community School elementary schools.  Limited transportation is available for students from Cooper, Duncombe and Feelhaver on a first come first serve basis. The program will continue to be operated at Butler Elementary beginning September 6.

Dodger Academy is a comprehensive academic enrichment program serving kindergarten through fourth grade students from around the school district after the regular school day. The program provides a safe after school program that supports working families, emphasizes the improvement of reading and math skills and encourages all around student success.

A typical day at Dodger Academy consists of a snack provided by the USDA, the Power Hour and enrichment activities. During the Power Hour students receive homework assistance as well as participate in math and reading enrichment activities. All activities are research based and linked to what the students are learning during the regular school day. Once the Power Hour is complete, students participate in a variety of academic, enrichment, cultural and recreational activities. Many of these activities are provided in collaboration with community partners.

“Test scores show that our after school program has made a difference in student achievement,” said Ashley Canto, program director. “The Power Hour and tutoring available to students really make a difference in their academic performance.  And the kids all really enjoy the various enrichment activities the program offers.”

Parents wishing to enroll their student in Dodger Academy can do so at their child’s school during welcome back conferences on Thursday, August 31st. Enrollment can also be done at Butler Elementary from 8 – 4 Monday through Friday.
