Elementary Schools to Hold "Kindergarten Round-Up"
The kindergarten countdown has started for some Fort Dodge parents as they prepare to attend Kindergarten Round-Up April 11-19.
To help families prepare for kindergarten and to allow the Fort Dodge School District to plan for the coming school year, all elementary schools will host annual spring Kindergarten Round-Up sessions, varying by building.
During Round-Up, the incoming student will experience a kindergarten day routine, spending time with his/her kindergarten teacher. At the same time, parents/guardians will meet with the building principal and other staff members where they will learn about school curriculum and have many opportunities to ask questions.
To be eligible for kindergarten in the Fort Dodge School District, children must be 5-years-old by Sept. 15, 2012. Parents/guardians are asked to notify their child’s home school if they have a child ready to enter Kindergarten. The school can then register the child into a Kindergarten Round-Up session. A child's home address determines which school they will attend. The Round-Up schedule is as follows:
|April 11||Riverside Elementary||574-5837|
|April 12||Duncombe Elementary||574-5832|
|April 13||Cooper Elementary||574-5830|
|April 17||Butler Elementary||574-5882|
|April 19||Feelhaver Elementary||574-5680|
The Fort Dodge Community School District kindergarten programs focus on a nurturing environment which provides for both academic and social growth while allowing children to begin to develop personal responsibility and independence. We encourage all families with a child eligible for kindergarten to take part in Kindergarten Round-Up. If you have any questions or would like more information on kindergarten, please contact your home school or the Central Administration Building at 576-1161.
