FDCSD Board Oks Manufacturing Club - from The Messenger

November 27, 2018

Students at Fort Dodge Senior High who enjoy using tools to build projects will have a new club to belong to.

The Fort Dodge Community School District board approved the establishment of the Dodger Manufacturing club at its meeting Monday night.

Andy Kavanaugh, the school's manufacturing and welding instructor, will oversee the club.

"This will involve students going out and making things and possibly selling them," Matt Elsbecker, FDSH activities director, said.

Between $5,000 and $15,000 will be needed to operate the club. That money will be fundraised and used for materials and tools.

"This is something they really enjoy doing," Elsbecker said. "Mr. Kavanaugh has taken this group on and want to make it an official club."

Goals of the group include: getting students involved in after school activities, giving students an opportunity to develop a hobby, and getting students excited about learning.

Students will meet in the shop.
