FDCSD Names Cooper Elementary Principal for 21-22
February 10, 2021, Fort Dodge, IA- The Fort Dodge Community School District is pleased to announce Kathryn (Kate) Simpson as the principal at Cooper Elementary beginning with the 2021-22 school year. Current principal, Lynnae Harvey, is retiring at the end of the current school year.
“The District has been working hard to grow and develop the leadership capacity of our staff,” said Dr. Jesse Ulrich, FDCSD superintendent. “Ms. Simpson is an example of how our efforts are working. Her experience as an instructional leader, focus on putting kids first, and passion for making Cooper Elementary the best place to learn, work and grow will help us continue the great things that are happening there.”
Simpson currently serves as an elementary instructional coach for the District. In this role she focuses on research based and data driven instructional practices and job embedded professional development for teaching staff. Prior to her current role, Simpson was a special education teacher at Feelhaver Elementary and a 5th grade general education teacher at Albert City – Truesdale. She will receive her Administrative Endorsement from the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy in March of this year.
“I am honored and excited to serve the students, families, community, and staff at Cooper Elementary,” Simpson shared. “There are so many incredible things happening, I look forward to continuing the momentum we have going and I'm excited to dream big with the staff about how we can continue to make Cooper a place where everyone who enters feels seen, heard, brave, and know that they belong.”
