December 5, 2013, Fort Dodge, IA-  The Fort Dodge Community School District is pleased to announce its students and employee of the month for December.  This program recognizes one elementary, one middle school and one high school student, as well as one staff member monthly for their outstanding accomplishments.

Gracie Harvey is the Elementary Student of the Month.  She was nominated Ms. Ayala.  She stated that after learning about the similarities and differences between families, Harvey was inspired to help a less fortunate family.  Because of Harvey’s big heart, the Duncombe Elementary kindergarten class “adopted” a family for the holidays and held a bake sale to raise funds for the family.  Ayala commented that Harvey “started her own chain reaction!”  She is the daughter of Blake and Stephanie Harvey.

Gabby Estlund is the Middle School Student of the Month.  She was nominated by Ms. Larson.  Larson indicated that Estlund pursues academic interests with enthusiasm and vigor, choosing challenging tasks when given the opportunity.  As a TAG student, Estlund consistently sets high expectations for herself and those around her.  She is kind, compassionate, tolerant and respectful. Estlund is the daughter of Rick and Jenny Estlund.

Gesila Macek is the High School Student of the Month.  She was nominated by Mr. Keane.  Keane indicated that Macek is not just satisfied with a good grade, but really wants to learn.  She is involved in Dodger Senate and is willing to take the lead or support those in the lead in order for the group to be successful.  Macek has been a student leader with Dodger Time and in the change to student lead conferences.  She is the daughter of Michael and Anne Macek.

Jennifer Lane, Director of Communications, is the Employee of the Month. She was nominated by coworker, Lyndsey Steck. Her nomination of Lane stated that she continuously goes out of her way to make sure all program and event needs are met, and serving as a District representative at many of them.  Steck stated that Lane is reliable, has strong morals and judgment, and a love for her job and the District that is evident in her work.
