FDSH Graduation Events Scheduled
May 17, 2013, Fort Dodge, IA- Fort Dodge Senior High announces its schedule of graduation events to honor and recognize the senior class members.
Baccalaureate will be held Wednesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. The service is sponsored by the Fort Dodge Interfaith Forum and Ministerial Alliance.
Class Night is set for Thursday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at the FDSH gymnasium. During Class Night, students are recognized for their scholastic achievements and scholarships and awards are presented.
Commencement is scheduled for Sunday, May 26, at 1:30 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. The gates will open at 12:30 for general seating by family and friends. Seating will only be allowed in the west bleachers, with handicap seating available on the track near the southwest gate. There will be directed parking in the Stadium lot. Vehicles will only be allowed to enter the lot from the north and will be parked bumper to bumper. If spectators need to be able to leave the stadium immediately following the ceremony parking in the lot is not recommended. Water will be sold onsite. Dodger Stadium is a tobacco free zone.
In the case of rain, Commencement will be held in the FDSH gymnasium. An announcement will be made over the Fort Dodge radio stations at noon if Commencement needs to be moved indoors. If held indoors, family members should arrive and be seated by 12:45 p.m. Parking will be on the east side of Senior High, with everyone entering through the “Dodger” doors.
Students and spectators are reminded that Commencement should be treated with respect. Expectations will be shared with students during graduation rehearsal.
“Graduation is a ceremony,” said Dave Keane, FDSH principal. “We anticipate and expect our students and spectators will treat it with all the pomp and circumstance that it deserves. Our students have worked hard to achieve their diploma and we want to celebrate and respect their efforts.”
