FDSH Students Earn 13 Awards at CIML Art Show

April 22, 2019, Fort Dodge, IA- On April 17, 28 Fort Dodge Senior High students participated in the CIML Conference Art Show.  Students from Fort Dodge Senior High, Ames, Mason City and Marshalltown participated in the show.

Each school submitted up to 35 works of art.  Upon arrival, the students viewed the art show and voted on artwork to receive the Student Choice Award.  The judges awarded at least one Blue Merit and one Honorable Mention per category.  FDSH students received thirteen awards.

Blue Merit Awards

  • Ashlyn Wacholtz in fabric art for “Moonlight Reflection”
  • Kelsey Charlet in ceramics – sculptural for “Unknown”
  • Lucy Seward in photography – black and white for “Lost Art”
  • Mason Bockoven in photography – unaltered for “Frozen in Place”
  • Kolby Wilson in 9th grade 2D for “Going with the Flow”

Honorable Mention Awards

  • Jasmine Lynem in acrylic paint for “Deep Thoughts”
  • Jocelyn Walters in colored pencil for “It’s a Flower”
  • Aiden Trimble in ink drawing for “Kameelperd”
  • Jasmin Lynem in charcoal and conte for “Beauty is in the Owl”
  • Kaydin Kazee in graphic design for a commercial purpose for “Daydreamer”
  • Jasmine Baguhn in computer generated art for “Human-i-tea”
  • Autumn Peterson in non-ceramic sculpture for “Harry the Hippo”
  • Samantha Bucklin in 9th grade 2D for “Old School Academics”

“I am so proud of our students selected to represent Senior High as part of this show,” said Lori Daniel, FDSH art instructor. “This show is the highest art competition for our school and it was great to see so many of our students have their art chosen for awards among such talented competition from all the schools.”
