Final Days to Help FDSH Try to Win up to $200,000 in Security

December 9, 2013

December 9, 2013, Fort Dodge, IA-  The final four days to help Fort Dodge Senior High try to win up to $200,000 in security products and services through the Stanley Safer Schools grant have arrived.  The funds are awarded to the schools that receive the most votes by December 13.

Fort Dodge Senior High has slipped to fifth place.  Support from the community is needed to help FDSH win!  Individuals can vote once per day per email address at  In addition, people can vote daily by texting “Fort Dodge Senior High” to 99222.

“This is a very worthwhile cause that will impact not only the 1200 current students at the high school but the thousands of Dodgers who will enter our doors in the years ahead,” stated Dr. Van Zyl, FDCSD Superintendent.  “I urge everyone to spread the word and vote.  During this final week, please ask everyone you know who has an email address and a cell phone to vote daily until the last day.”

Should FDSH place in the top four, the funds could mean new doors on the front and back entrances of the building, new door hardware like door knobs and locks on some classrooms or exterior doors. It could also include some additional keyless entry locations or an additional camera or two in the building or parking lot. The benefit of being able to increase some of the safety features of our school would be invaluable.
