Five FDMS Students Selected to Karl King Honor Band

Five seventh and eighth grade students from Fort Dodge Middle School were selected for the 2023 Karl King Honor Band.  The Karl King Honor Band performed Saturday, January 14.  The students spent the day rehearsing with band students from other schools before presenting the concert that evening.

Students representing Fort Dodge Middle School were:

7th Grade

Miura Novencido – trombone

Bridget Olson – flute

Collin Hoover – tenor saxophone

8th Grade 

Taleyah Douglas – percussion

Caitlyn Uhlenhopp – percussion

“These students put in extra time and effort to prepare the challenging music for the honor band,” said Tara Smith, FDMS band instructor. “Students make so many memories and become better musicians through experiences like this.  I’m proud of these kids for their efforts, and how they represented Fort Dodge Middle School.”
