Five FDMS Students Selected to Opus Honor Choir
November 8, 2018, Fort Dodge, IA- Five Fort Dodge Middle School students were recently selected to participate in the annual Opus Honor Choir Festival. Vocal directors nominated close to 3,000 students for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition. The FDMS students selected to participate are:
Jillian Leman, 5th grade
Micah Flaherty, 6th grade
Amy Miller, 7th grade
Grace Casciato, 8th grade
Ryan Madden, 8th grade
“Being selected for the Opus Honor Choir is a very prestigious honor,” said Joan Ascherl, FDMS vocal instructor. “It is the high school equivalent of All State. Participating is a wonderful opportunity for all five of these students to showcase and grow their talent.”
The Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is made possible by the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc.
