Foundation Fall Fundraiser
Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation Fall Fundraiser
to Support Students
September 24, 2012, Fort Dodge, IA- The Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation Fall Fundraiser is quickly approaching. The annual event will be held Saturday, October 13th from 6 P.M. to midnight at the Starlite Village. The evening will include dinner, dancing, a live and silent auction and a car raffle. Tickets can be purchased at the main office of each school building and are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Foundation whose goal is to support and elevate our schools and students to a higher level by providing resources that are outside the scope of the District’s budget. The Foundation funds programs and activities that promote academic, artistic and athletic excellence.
Some recent projects funded by the Foundation include: an end zone camera at Dodger Stadium, new computers for the elementary buildings, Butler’s Learning After School Time (BLAST!), classroom clickers for Phillips Middle School, choir dresses, and bikes and kayaks for the physical education department. With the help of Dodger supporters, the Foundation’s contributions demonstrate its commitment to enhance and broaden students’ educational experiences.
The annual fall event is the Foundation’s largest fundraiser. Besides funding projects like those above, a fourth of the funds raised through the evening are placed into an investment fund with the purpose of generating long term support for the schools.
“With the support of generous donors, we have been able to grow the Foundation’s resources, and supplement the District’s budget,” Ashley O’Brion, President of the Foundation, said. “More importantly, the students have been given resources which allow them to be competitive in terms of academic achievement and extracurricular activities.”
