Nine FDMS Students Selected to NCIBA Honor Band
Nine seventh and eighth grade students from Fort Dodge Middle School were selected for the 2022 North Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (NCIBA) Honor Band. The NCIBA Honor Band performed Saturday, November 12, in Clear Lake. The students spent the day rehearsing with band students from other schools before presenting the concert that evening.
Students representing Fort Dodge Middle School were:
7th Grade
Charlotte DeJong – trumpet
Damien Yeoman – trumpet
Zoey Balm – alto saxophone
8th Grade
Greyson Chance – tenor saxophone
Tamara Hamilton – clarinet
Emily Hauswirth – bass clarinet
Teagan Loots - percussion
Camila Lopes - flute
Izzabella Prather – clarinet
“It took extra time and effort on the part of these students to prepare the challenging music for the honor band,” said Tara Smith, FDMS band instructor. “Experiences like honor band give them the opportunity to become even better musicians. I’m proud of them for their efforts, and for the way they represented our school and community.”
