Two Fort Dodge Coaches Selected to State Advisory Committees

October 5, 2012, Fort Dodge, IA-  Andi Adams and Jared Feddersen were recently selected to serve on state advisory committees for their respective sports. The advisory committees serve as a liaison between coaches and officials from throughout the state and Board of Directors for both the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU).

Andi Adams was selected to serve on the IGHSAU Softball Advisory Committee. Adams has been coaching softball for 14 years and has an overall record of 457 wins to 208 losses. During her tenure as Fort Dodge Senior High head coach, six teams have qualified for the State Tournament in the past 12 years, ranking her in the top 15 coaches of all time in the state of Iowa.

“I was humbled and honored to be selected to the advisory committee,” stated Adams. “I can't wait for the opportunity to meet with the other advisory members, many of whom are great colleagues.”

Jared Feddersen was selected to serve on the Iowa High School Athletic Association Boys Tennis Advisory Committee. Feddersen has been a tennis head coach for five years and has an overall record of 27-22.   Under his leadership one team and seven individuals have qualified for the state tournament. He has coached one individual state champion.

"I'm very excited to serve on the Tennis Advisory Committee,” Feddersen said.  “I'm looking forward to giving back to a sport that has given me so much."

The advisory committees are made up of varsity coaches and one official and are chaired by an athletic director. Each member may serve one four-year term. Committees are strictly advisory in nature, discussing rules, concerns, complaints and ideas, during their meetings. From their discussions, the committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for its consideration.

In addition, the Fort Dodge Community School District is represented by Mark Johnson, Phillips Middle School Activities Director, serving on the Iowa High School Athletic Association Junior High Advisory Committee and Tom Kinseth, Fort Dodge Senior High Activities Director, serving on the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Board of Directors.
