Two FDSH Students Selected to ISU Honor Choir

January 21, 2014

January 21, 2014, Fort Dodge, IA-  Fort Dodge Senior High students, Ben Ahlers and Sarah Amhof, were recently selected to the Iowa State University Honor Choir.  The ISU Honor Choir provides talented high school singers an opportunity to perform in a select choir under the leadership of ISU faculty.

The choir consists of 95 members, chosen by live audition from among the finest high school musicians in the state.  The students were tested on tonal memory which is the ability to recall and sing a series of pitches played on the piano, sight-singing which is the ability to accurately read and sing music not previously seen by the students, and a prepared solo.

The Honor Choir Festival takes place on February 9-10.  The Festival Concert will be the evening of February 10 in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall at Iowa State University.  Besides their own performance, the students will have the opportunity to interact with ISU music students and faculty as well as hear performances by several of ISU’s choral ensembles.
