Fort Dodge Community School District Newsletter - March 2024

The Early Childhood Center opened its doors in the fall of 2021. Here, all of our preschool, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students receive their education in a setting that revolves around the specific needs of young children.

Our elementary program is designed to provide students with the essential elements on which to build a successful education career. Our four elementary schools (Butler, Cooper, Duncombe and Feelhaver) house grades 1-5 and provide students with core instruction as well as experiences in physical education, health, music, art, library-media and computer. Our technology education includes helping students become familiar with keyboarding and computer programs as well as internet safety and use.

Fort Dodge Middle School is home to our 6-8 grade students. The facility accommodates students with conventional classrooms, special needs classrooms, library, exploratory labs, science labs and academic learning communities that allow for projects, technology integration and collaboration. In addition to core classes, our students' academic day includes experiences in physical education, music, art, technology, family and consumer science, industrial technology and health. Students have the opportunity to participate in various fine arts and athletics.

Fort Dodge Senior High offers over 200 courses including Advanced Placement, honors classes, post-secondary enrollment options as well as vocational and health occupations classes. Iowa Central Community College courses are offered onsite and students also have the opportunity to participate in the North Central Iowa Career Academy. With a wide variety of electives available, students can choose courses in relation to their interests, abilities and future
