TAG/Extended Learning
The Extended Learning Lab provides an environment in which the full potential of the learner is recognized, encouraged, and nurtured.
Each student is given the appropriate support and challenge necessary for continued educational development.
Students can participate in self-directed Independent Study explorations and are offered guidance and resources necessary to investigate personal areas of interest. Goals are established and projects created.
In addition, students have the opportunity to enroll in Advanced Placement classes, college level courses, Honors by Contract, participate in contests or academic challenges, and investigate an area of interest through a potential internship.

Advanced Placement or 'AP' courses that were taken in the 2016-17 school year included: AP Literature & Composition, AP U.S. History, and AP Psychology. In addition to the requirements of the class taken, students may opt to take an optional AP exam. Exams are administered in May and reflect a level of achievement in the college-level course.
An AP score is used by colleges and universities to determine if credit will be granted for what has been learned. The score is reported on a 5-point scale with '5' as extremely well qualified.
FDSH offers AP classes online. All students who opted to take the AP exam have earned a '3' or higher.
