Our 3rd graders at Duncombe hosted a fantastic family engagement, showcasing their knowledge of the sea! 🌊
Students did an incredible job sharing what they’ve learned—it was so fun exploring all the amazing creatures that live beneath the water.

Happy Thanksgiving
Our Culinary Arts II students rolled up their sleeves today, partnering with the ICCC culinary team to prep 250 lbs of green beans and 250 lbs of potatoes for the Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner. 🦃
Thousands of meals will be served on Thursday, and our students are grateful for the chance to learn, serve, and give back.
Thank you to Iowa Central Community College Culinary Arts and Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota for welcoming our students and continuing this incredible tradition.

Congratulations the our Student of the Week, Alva. She is a Junior at Ft Dodge Senior High. Her teacher had this to say about her....when I got a new student this week with limited English skills, I asked Alva to be my helper and help translate for him if I was busy working with other students. She has been doing a great job, and she has this very easy-going way about her that makes people feel comfortable with her.She is an authentically kind person, and wonderful to have in class! FDCSD is so proud of you Alva

Last week, ICCC Head Rugby Coach, Brent Nelson, who is founder of Iowa central rugby team, and current ICCC rugby player and student and FDSH Dodger alum, Gavin Pederson, came to speak members of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Coach Nelson built the rugby program into a national powerhouse that continues to compete for national titles in both 15’s and 7’s. The ICCC program hosts players from all around the world, and Nelson has been instrumental in teaching a coaching youth 15’s for the Iowa rugby union.

The two talked about leadership through sports, especially in giving back to the community in service projects and volunteerism.

Gavin talked to the group about the importance of balancing academics and athletics at the collegiate level; Gavin is majoring in Fire Science.

Last night, these outstanding Dodgers received their Academic Letter Award for maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA for three consecutive trimesters! Their dedication, grit, and commitment to excellence truly shine. These students have earned every bit of this recognition and should be incredibly proud of their accomplishments.

Congratulations to all of you!

Students in Mrs. Adams’ Honors English 10 classes acted out “Chapter 7” as their final project in the Of Mice and Men unit. Students had only three days to write the script, find and make props and costumes, and act out the epilogue of Steinbeck’s famous novel.
Former Honors students and some from Mr. McBride’s class came to watch and evaluate as the sophomores acted out the funerals of Lennie and Curly’s wife.
Creative devices such as flashbacks, monologues, and soliloquies were used. Much thanks to Mrs. Krug for allowing us to use her props again!
