On Thursday, students kicked off the school year with a special flag raising ceremony — standing together, hands over their hearts, as they recited the Pledge of Allegiance. A great way to reflect on respect, citizenship, and community as we start the year.

❤️🖤🤍 This summer, our Summer Food Service Program made a BIG impact! 🤍🖤❤️
From June 2nd to August 13th, we served 49,018 free meals to children 18 and under!
A HUGE thank you to the community for showing up and to our Taher Food Service team for serving with smiles all summer long, rain or shine. Your support and dedication are what make this program such a success! ❤️🖤🤍

🏗️ Groundbreaking for Fort Dodge Senior High's New Multipurpose Building!
Big things are happening at FDSH! Tuesday marked the official kickoff for a new multipurpose building — one of the most visible parts of a major renovation to our 1958 high school.
This project was made possible because voters said YES to extending the district's borrowing authority, approving up to $42 million in renovations. 🎉
"They voted yes for the students," said School Board President Molly Nelson.
What's coming to the new ~22,000 sq. ft. building:
🏈 Space for building theater sets
⚾ Four batting cages
🏃 A two-lane indoor track
🏋️ 20 weightlifting racks
❤️ Cardio fitness equipment
The district is also considering adding a 4,000 sq. ft. girls wrestling room, with bids opening this Thursday — great news for our strong wrestling community!
Principal Staci Laird summed it up best: "It makes me proud that we have taken good care of our facilities and are continuing to take good care of them by doing these renovations."
Construction is expected to take 10 months to a year. Thank you, Fort Dodge, for continuing to invest in our students and their future! ❤️🖤

"It's been a few years — okay, a few decades — since I was a middle schooler, but I still remember the teachers and coaches who helped a tall, awkward kid believe in himself. Their encouragement and steady presence made a lasting difference in my life. I want to give support and guidance to the students at FDMS as they transition into their high school years. I hope to be a stable, dependable influence during a time in their life that can often be somewhat chaotic and overwhelming."

He was State Champion in the 1600m run as a senior in high school, and he also enjoys photography! 🏅📸
