During Mental Health Awareness Month, Duncombe 5th grader Quinn Fiebig is helping lead the charge in a meaningful way!
Quinn, a TAG student, created a passion project last fall focused on mental health. This morning, she greeted students as they arrived at school—sharing green ribbons and bookmarks she made with helpful information about mental health and wellness.
She was joined by fellow TAG students who helped her spread the message that mental health matters!

Webster County Supervisor, Niki Conrad, spoke to Mrs. Adams' Studies of Leadership Literature class last week. Students listened to Niki's leadership story and how she deals with issues of government leadership and strategies to work with others. Aneliese Schuur contacted Ms. Conrad because Niki represents a type of leadership style the class has discussed.
Niki had this to say when she was done speaking with the class: "Talk about filling my buckets! It's no exaggeration to say I loved every moment of talking with your class today. They asked extremely thoughtful questions, were attentive and engaged, and made me feel very welcome. Thank you for doing this. I loved it."

In April, FDSH students participated in Iowa Central Community College's Health Science Competition, winning 1st and 2nd place!
The competition was a timed race. Students went to various health science programs throughout campus where they were able to learn skills and then test on those skills. Once they completed the required task and answered questions correctly they were given clues for their next station. The teams that completed all of the stations the fastest were named winners. Some of the skills included properly conducting a COVID screen and strep reading, accurately lining up an x-ray machine, properly performing CPR, and donning and doffing personal protective equipment.
